Dr. Kozeta Miliku is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto. She earned her Medical Doctorate from the Medical University of Tirana in Albania and completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Epidemiology at Erasmus University Medical Centre in the Netherlands. Dr. Miliku pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Manitoba and McMaster University, where her research focused on the interplay between nutrition and genetics in shaping the developmental origins of chronic diseases, particularly cardiometabolic health, asthma, and allergies in Canadian children.
At the University of Toronto, Dr. Miliku's lab investigates the role of nutrition during critical developmental periods—preconception, pregnancy, childhood, and adolescence—on the development of multimorbidity and seeks to understand the underlying biological mechanisms. In addition to her academic role, she serves as the Clinical Science Officer of the national CHILD Cohort Study and co-chairs the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDII) committee of the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) Canada Society.
